About Bradford Grand Mosque

Al-Jamia Suffa-tul-Islam was founded in 1983 by Shaykh Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman Mahboobi. Its first home was a four-storey former textile mill on Sunbridge Road, converted into a mosque, community centre and madrasah; that building now hosts educational activities.

The new Bradford Grand Mosque on Horton Park Avenue has been funded by community donations, membership and interest-free loans, and parts of it are still under construction. It has two main prayer halls plus overflow areas, which are filled for Eid prayers and the mosque's monthly conferences.

The institute runs a full-time Aalim course and Qur'an memorisation (tahfeez) classes, and says more than 150 students have become Huffaz and over 40 have qualified as Imams or Aalims.
